A dodging game with a falling sky
Horn Rush is a free dodging game for your browser. You fly a small angel in the lower part of the screen while demons rain down from above. Slip between them, catch the gold halos that fall with them, and see how long you can stay in the air.
There is no timer and no final level. You have three lives and the round ends when the third demon gets you. The longer you last, the faster the demons fall, so every run ends sooner or later. The question is how many points you take with you.
How to play Horn Rush
- Fly with the arrow keys or WASD, or press and drag on the screen. The angel can go anywhere in the lower part of the board, but not into the top 45 percent.
- Dodge the demons. A touch costs one life, removes that demon and makes the angel invulnerable for 1.7 seconds.
- Catch the gold halos for 50 points each. Missing one costs nothing.
- You also score 6 points for every second you stay alive.
- When the third life goes, THE FALL appears with your score. Press Enter or Space, or tap, to fly again.
Controls
- Keyboard: ← ↑ ↓ → or W A S D.
- Mouse or touch: press and hold, then drag. The angel follows your pointer and sits a little above your finger so you can see it. Letting go stops the steering.
- Phone: on-screen arrows appear under the board.
- P pauses, Enter or Space (or a tap) restarts, Esc goes back to the game list.
Scoring and rules
Staying alive gives 6 points per second and each halo gives 50, so one halo is worth about eight seconds in the air. There are no combos and no penalties: a demon hit costs a life, not points.
The sky gets harder as you go. Demons fall faster the longer you play, they arrive more often (the gap between them keeps shrinking until about 70 seconds in), and after about 22 seconds some of them start to steer sideways toward you. Big demons fall more slowly but are much wider, so they need more room. Every third object that falls is always a halo.
Tips to score higher
- Halos are optional. They are worth 50, but missing one is free, so leave the ones that sit in the middle of a pack of demons.
- Count to three. Every third falling object is a halo, so you can see them coming in the rhythm of the fall.
- Use the 1.7 seconds after a hit. Demons pass through you in that time, so it is the moment to cross the screen or grab a halo in the thick of them.
- Seekers steer sideways much more slowly than you can fly. Let them commit to a direction, then dash the other way at the last moment.
- Give big demons extra room at the sides. They are slower, but they hit from further away.
Questions
- Is there a time limit in Horn Rush?
- No. The only way a round ends is by losing all three lives.
- Why can I not fly to the top of the screen?
- The angel is limited to the lower part of the board. That is a rule of the game, not a glitch.
- Is my best score saved?
- Yes, in your browser. If you accept analytics cookies, each final score is also sent to Google Analytics.
